MandoPuter firmware v0.1.12: Datapad icon replaces duplicate helmet in Vitals

Firmware v0.1.12 for the MandoPuter is now available. Small visual polish: the seventh icon in the Vitals dossier is no longer a duplicate helmet.

v0.1.12 — 2026-04-26

Highlights

Vitals mode now shows seven distinct loadout icons instead of repeating the helmet for the seventh row. The new icon is a datapad — a small display with a screen window and three buttons, fitting the medical-diagnostic theme as the patient's reference tablet.

Changes

  • Feature: Datapad icon in Vitals. The seventh row of the loadout column was previously a second helmet because the icon set only had six variants cycled across seven rows. Adds a datapad as variant 7 so every row shows a distinct piece of equipment: helmet, blaster, jetpack, shield, mythosaur skull, comlink, datapad.
  • Internal: Owner's manual GIFs. The placeholder cards for TargetAcq (mode 06) and Vitals (mode 07) in the owner's manual now show actual animated previews. The renderer that produces these GIFs (tools/render_animations.py) was extended to mirror the firmware's draw paths for both modes.

Upgrade notes

  • No NVS migrations — saved scale, rotation, anchor, and color theme all carry forward.
  • The mode cycle and gestures are unchanged from v0.1.11.

How to install

  1. Log in at foxheadworkshop.com/account and open your MandoPuter order.
  2. Download firmware.bin (or the installer zip if you don't have an SD card on hand).
  3. Save firmware.bin to the root of your MandoPuter SD card.
  4. Insert the card and power the unit on.
  5. Single-press BOOT when the update prompt appears.

Step-by-step instructions with screenshots are in the owner's manual under Updating Firmware. Both the SD-card and USB-installer methods work for this update.
