Whistling Birds Update 1.5.4 is out: New Demo Mode, persistent settings, and smoother mechanical operation

The Whistling Birds Gauntlet Darts project just received a new update focused on reliability, better control, and event friendly features. Version 1.5.2 includes several upgrades across firmware, user experience, and mechanical operation.

Persistent settings

The system now saves all configuration choices directly to storage. Dart tip color, afterburner settings, salvo size, and safety mode are restored every time the prop powers back on.

Demo Mode for events and display setups

This new feature automatically cycles through a curated sequence of firing animations, dart colors, and salvo patterns. It is designed for conventions, photography sessions, or any situation where you want to showcase the system without interaction.

Refined configuration menu

Gesture navigation is smoother and more consistent. The menu now provides visual and audio cues that match each setting, making it easier to understand what is active.

Mechanical updates for smoother motion

The outer LED housing was redesigned to eliminate the minor friction point on the pusharm. This results in cleaner movement with less wear.

Fixes

The onboard LED now accurately reflects arm and disarm states. Audio cleanup issues between sound effects have also been corrected.

The new firmware is available for download!. As always, community feedback is welcome, especially from builders testing this on other printers or custom setups.
