How I Use AI at Foxhead Workshop

Why I’m Sharing This

There is a lot of discussion and debate about AI tools in creative work. Some people embrace them, others avoid them entirely. I believe in being transparent so you can make an informed decision about supporting my work. This page explains exactly how I use AI, where I do not use it, and why.

My Approach to AI

AI is one of many tools I use to bring ideas to life, just like a 3D printer, a CNC mill, or an IDE for software development. It does not replace my creativity or hands-on craftsmanship. Instead, it supports and speeds up certain parts of the process so I can spend more time building, testing, and refining.

I also use AI as an accelerator. It helps me work through tasks faster, and it can fill in skill gaps by acting as a guide. When I need to learn something new, AI can shorten the learning curve by providing clear explanations, examples, and suggestions that I can immediately apply to my work.

Where I Use AI

  • Brainstorming and Idea Refinement
AI can help me think through design approaches, feature lists, and project names by generating options for me to consider, but the final decisions are mine.
  • Writing and Editing
I use AI to help draft and refine text for product descriptions, instructions, or blog posts. I always review and edit these to make sure they are accurate, in my voice, and factually correct.
  • Research Support
AI can help organize and summarize technical information, especially when I am exploring new materials, techniques, or electronics. I double-check any facts or numbers before acting on them.
  • Skill Augmentation
If I need to learn a new software tool, design technique, or coding method, AI can walk me through the process step-by-step, helping me improve faster than if I relied solely on trial and error.

Where I Do Not Use AI

  • Original Designs and Models
All 3D models, mechanical designs, and schematics I sell are my own work or created by other makers with proper licensing. I do not use AI to generate or copy models.
  • Final Creative Decisions
Every prop, kit, and guide reflects my own experience, testing, and judgment. AI never makes the call on what ships to you, I do.
  • Customer Interaction
While I may use AI to help organize my thoughts before replying to messages, every customer response you get from me is reviewed and approved by me personally.

Why I Use AI

  • Efficiency – It saves time on repetitive or early-stage tasks so I can focus on hands-on work.
  • Clarity – It helps me explain technical steps more clearly to a wide range of skill levels.
  • Consistency – It keeps my documentation and messaging organized as I update and expand my product line.
  • Skill Growth – It acts as a coach, helping me learn new skills faster and apply them directly to projects.

My Commitment to You

I believe tools, including AI, should enhance creativity, not replace it. Everything I sell is the result of my own skills, testing, and passion for making. AI is simply one more tool on the bench, used to support the process, not define it.
