Power Problems

  • No response on battery: Confirm the LiPo is plugged into the battery JST port, not the servo terminals.
  • No charging: Confirm USB-C is plugged in and the LiPo is seated at the battery JST. With v2 wiring (switch on EN/GND), the switch position does not affect charging: the battery stays connected to the charging circuit whether the prop is on or off. v1 builders with the switch wired in the LiPo line need the switch ON for charging to work; see the v2 changelog for the recommended rewiring.
  • Still dead: Verify battery polarity, terminal block seating, and obvious broken solder joints before you suspect the board.
  • USB works but battery does not: Recheck the battery path, switch wiring, and whether you are using a battery with the correct polarity.

Motion and Servo Problems

Keep servo alignment and timing separate from LED or fiber troubleshooting. The gearbox should move cleanly before you worry about light output.

  • No response to the activation magnet: Check that the reed-switch JST is fully seated at the front-of-gearbox connector before you adjust magnet placement or firmware.
  • Servo moves but darts do not: Check the drive gear, timing gear seating, and push-arm engagement.
  • Darts do not reach full travel: Recheck the timing gear orientation and the push-arm resting position.
  • Servo strains or keeps buzzing: The mechanism is binding or the configured travel is too aggressive. Reduce the maximum servo angle and retest.
  • Worked outside the gauntlet, fails inside: Look for wire pressure, shell interference, or fiber routing that adds drag to the mechanism.

LED and Fiber Problems

  • No LEDs at all: Start with power and ground continuity to the strip.
  • Only some rows light: Recheck the data path and solder joints at the cut points between segments.
  • Unit extends but the LEDs are mostly off unless firing: Power-cycle the prop first. If the LEDs recover after a restart, continue only after confirming the behavior stays stable through several arm/disarm cycles.
  • Fiber tips look dim or uneven: Sand the fiber ends consistently and make sure each strand is seated fully in its row.
  • Looks fine on the bench, poor in the gauntlet: Check that each fiber is the correct length for its hole in the nozzle and that the installed routing is not kinking the bundle.

Gauntlet Fit and Install Problems

  • Mechanism rubs after installation: Confirm the gearbox pocket really meets the required clearance and that the mounting kit, or any fallback hook-and-loop mount, is not twisting the shell.
  • Dart travel changed after install: Installation in the gauntlet must not interfere with dart travel or wiring.
  • Darts drag in the nozzle: Lightly trim the rear of the Beskar dart tips and, if needed, relieve the sides of the nozzle holes to reduce friction during extension and retraction.
  • Fibers fight the mechanism: Remove unnecessary curl, re-check fiber length, and verify the bundle enters each nozzle cleanly.

Software Recovery

  • Board shows software fault behavior: Delete the files on CIRCUITPY, reset the board, and recopy the project files.
  • Drive issues during file copy: Re-enter bootloader, reinstall CircuitPython, and retry with a known good data cable.
  • Unexpected behavior after configuration edits: Revert to the last known-good config and retest the build checkpoints one stage at a time.
  • Need a deeper software clue: Open the serial console / REPL over USB-C and read the error output before recopying files. Syntax errors, missing imports, and startup exceptions usually show there first.

Escalation

If you still need help, make the support request easy to answer. Include the following:

  • Which stage last passed successfully
  • Current power source: USB-C, LiPo, or both
  • What the prop does now versus what you expected it to do
  • Photos or short video of the problem, especially for motion issues
  • Any recent changes to wiring, configuration, battery, or gauntlet installation
