Mandoputer firmware v1.1.2: Target Computer, Motion Tracker and per-mode colors
Two new display modes, Target Computer and Motion Tracker, and every mode now keeps its own colors, with a Reset row to get the factory look back.
Firmware v1.1.2 for the Mandoputer is now available. Two new screens, and every mode now keeps its own colors.
v1.1.2 — 2026-09-22
Highlights
Two new display modes join the cycle right after Vitals: a Target Computer whose range runs down while the target bars close to a lock, and a Motion Tracker that sends out pulses while a contact steps closer. Colors are now saved per mode, so your Scanner can be cyan while Vitals stays red.
Changes
- Feature: Target Computer (mode 08). Yellow wireframe with red target bars out of the box. Runs a full ten-second approach and lock.
- Feature: Motion Tracker (mode 09). Blue arcs with a red contact out of the box. Range counts down in the unit's own digit glyphs.
- Feature: Per-mode colors. The Colors menu now edits the mode you opened it from, and shows that mode's name under the title. Each mode remembers its own Primary, Secondary and Accent.
-
Feature: Reset row. The Colors menu has a new
RESETrow that puts the current mode back to its factory colors without touching any other mode. - Feature: Factory looks. Until now every mode shipped all red. Each mode now has its own factory colors: Scanner, Targeting and Vitals get their own sets, most others pick up a blue Secondary, and Glyph Loop stays all red. The full table is in the owner's manual.
- Feature: Bounties works without a card. Two sample dossiers now ship inside the firmware. Put your own images on a microSD card and they replace the samples.
- Feature: Improved USB installer. The installer now shows a disclaimer you accept with Y, names the unit it found (chip and port), and asks again before it erases anything. It installs only to the unit it identified.
Upgrade notes
- If you changed your colors before this update, every mode you already had keeps that theme, and the two new modes arrive in their own colors. Use
RESETin a mode's Colors menu to see its new factory look. - If you never changed your colors, every mode except Glyph Loop will look different after the update. That is the new factory look, not a fault.
- The mode cycle gains two stops between Vitals and Bounties. Gestures are unchanged.
- The SD-card update keeps your saved settings. The USB installer erases them, as it always has.
How to install
- Log in at foxheadworkshop.com/account and open your Mandoputer order.
- Download
firmware.bin(or the installer zip if you don't have an SD card on hand). - Save
firmware.binto the root of a microSD card (not included; any card formatted FAT32 works). - Insert the card, power the unit on, then press RESET (with the screen facing you, RESET is the button on the left side of the board; BOOT is on the right). A cold power-on can miss the card; the reset runs the check with the card ready.
- Single-press BOOT when the update prompt appears.
Step-by-step instructions are in the owner's manual under Updating Firmware.
