Foxhead Workshop is proud to participate in the TrooperFest 2025 silent charity auction, raising funds for Give Kids the World Village. This inaugural event will take place at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, bringing together members from across the Star Wars costuming community.
TrooperFest is an event by members, for members, open to active participants in good standing of the 501st Legion, Rebel Legion, Mando Mercs Costume Club, Droid Builders, Saber Guild, Galactic Academy, The Dark Empire, and their families. It will be held November 6–9, 2025, marking the first celebration of its kind within the community.
This year’s auction supports Give Kids the World Village, a nonprofit organization that provides weeklong, cost-free vacations to children with critical illnesses and their families. Through this event, builders and fans unite their creativity to help bring joy and hope to those who need it most.
The Donation
For this year’s auction, Foxhead Workshop has donated a matched set of Din Djarin gauntlets, complete with functional Whistling Bird and the upcoming Mandoputer electronics. Designed for authenticity, these gauntlets recreate the advanced technology of the Mandalorian’s armor with screen-inspired sequences and sounds.
Craftsmanship and Materials
The gauntlets were 3D printed in PETG and resin, then painted with professional automotive 2K coatings and finished in Alumaluster for a true Beskar-metal look.
The creation of this set represents a year-long learning process in prop making and finishing. Every stage—smoothing, prepping, painting, and detailing—was an opportunity to master new skills and improve technique. The result reflects both the craftsmanship developed over time and the dedication to achieving a professional, screen-accurate look.
The finished gauntlets are designed to highlight the electronic systems housed within, showcasing the innovation and functionality that define Foxhead Workshop’s work.
Demonstration Details
The demo on display cycles through several example Whistling Bird salvo modes to showcase the customization capabilities built into the system. Users can modify these settings in the configuration file, but the default sequence includes:
- Row by row extension and firing
- Single dart firing mode
- Four-dart salvo, matching the scene from The Mandalorian Season 1, Episode 3 (The Sin, 24:00 mark)
- Full volley of all twelve darts
Each firing sequence randomly selects a color to demonstrate the system’s programmable LED effects and user customization potential.
Alongside the Whistling Bird system, is a prototype of the upcoming Mandoputer module. This unit runs on software originally inspired by the work of Jon Breazile, and has been expanded by Foxhead Workshop with on-screen characters and sequences drawn directly from the series. The display incorporates randomized glitch effects—including color distortion, screen jitter, static bursts, and a simulated cracked display—to mimic the worn, battle-tested tech seen on screen.
Purpose and Appreciation
This donation reflects countless hours of design, engineering, and finishing work. It represents the best of what the maker community can achieve when creativity and compassion meet. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to Give Kids the World Village, helping bring unforgettable experiences to children and families in need.
